After-School Club

Firetree Place’s After-School Club is committed to helping your child continue their growth and development even after school is over.

After school, Firetree Place picks up from all primary and intermediate schools in the Williamsport Area School District and select schools in the Loyalsock and South Williamsport School districts. Our Group Leaders and Assistant Group Leaders ride on a River Valley Transit bus dedicated strictly for our program participants. We also utilize our own Firetree Vans, which allow us to transport up to 14 additional children! We pick up your little ones and get them to Firetree Place safe and sound so that you don’t have to worry! A typical day in After-School Club consists of…

Dinner

During this time, the kids sit down and eat dinner together to relax from their day. Dinner is prepared by our Food Programs Director, Trista Falls. Food insecurity is an issue that affects our community, so we aim to provide nutritious meals and snacks for our youth. Firetree place participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks for meals served to children and youth participating in after-school care programs. Programs such as the CACFP and donations from the Pennsylvania Food Bank allow us to continue to provide daily meals for our youth, in turn helping our families to have one less worry!

Alternate food items are provided to meet the needs of those with food allergies and non-pork individuals. We serve low-fat white and non-fat chocolate milk. All grains are enriched or whole-grain. Occasional substitutions may be necessary.

Recreation

During this time, Firetree Place kids will play! Staying active is vital for the development and health of youth today. During this time, kids will engage in some form of recreation ranging from kickball and basketball to playing outside in our field when weather permits. Our Recreation Director, Alec Eggerton, is always working to come with new and creative ways to keep your kids moving! Physical health can sometimes fall by the wayside, so we aim to give our youth the outlet they need to get energy out, and to get their hearts pumping!

Homework

During this time, our staff help your kids with their homework and academics. Although we are not a homework club, we take academics very seriously here at Firetree Place. We aim to provide dedicated quiet time and support to finish homework for school the next day. If kids do not have homework, then time is used for reading or other educational activities. Our goal is to support your children’s academic efforts and encourage their success in the classroom.

Lesson Plan

Every week, our Youth Group Leaders create a lesson plan based on the theme for activities during After-School Club. These lesson plans aim to support out youth’s education, all while implementing life skills in fun way. Children will engage in interactive programs with our many partner programs as well. Firetree Place partners with many local organizations such as Junior League of Williamsport, 4H, YWCA, and James V. Brown Library, who volunteer their time to give our youth unique experiences. Here at Firetree Place, we believe that learning comes in all forms, and we are here to create a positive experience for all of youth!
